COMMERCIAL SPACE · FURNITURE, LIGHTING AND AN INSTALLATION-STAGE SITE RECORD

DO’S FLOWER · Pyeongchon, Gyeonggi

Bringing Light to the Shelves.

Behind the flower-filled shelves is a process of considering shelves and light together.

Following DO’S FLOWER’s fittings review documents and installation-stage site record, we revisit a scene in the completed shop.

Considering Shelves and Light, Not as Separate Things.

At DO’S FLOWER, we placed the lines and reflections of metal beside the character of plaster. The fittings become a background, allowing the colours and forms of flowers to come first.

The furniture work list addresses the sink unit and worktable, curved worktable, upper shelves and lower cabinets separately. A separate document reviewing lighting positions within the fittings mentions shelves, sinks, LEDs and metal. These records consider individual fittings and light in detail before they become one scene in the shop.

Lighting Positions Within the Fittings

A summary of items checked in the original ‘Final Furniture and Fittings Work List’ and ‘Lighting Positions Within the Fittings’ documents. Rather than displaying the original drawings, we have summarised the content with internal information and dimensions omitted.

Before the Flowers Are Placed, the Fittings and Light Take Their Places.

The installation-stage record shows the sink and worktable by the windows alongside the long shelves opposite. With products not yet set out, the continuous metal surfaces and the light within the shelves can be seen.

With boxes and fittings still being organised, this is not a completed-project photograph. Unlike the finished photographs with products arranged in place, it is a site record that reveals the relationships within the installed space.

Everyday Shop Life Enters the Setting We Have Made.

Vases, baskets, plants and flowers fill the completed shop. The metal lines and lighting seen in the installation record now shape the space together with these objects.

We want to show not only a finished photograph, but also the connection between the thinking, fittings and site that make up the scene. Even in a small shop where sales and work happen together, atmosphere and use are considered within the same design.
